A Long Story
The Duster

As summer slowly slips from our grasp, fall ready in her wake, the duster enters the story.

Bringing main-character energy, summer’s lightest layer transitions easily into fall. The rest of the outfit—a white tank, denim, a sandal—can fade quietly into the background.

Me? I’ve always loved a good duster, be it cashmere or silk. It’s that finishing touch that adds a little something special to an outfit: a hit of confidence, ease, and polish. A longer layer creates that columnar silhouette that is both elongating and flattering. Who doesn’t want that?

Even better? She’s giving me a reason to accessorize with the perfect monogrammed tote à la Alex Mill—the most pressing question: which color to get?—and style her with minimal white tanks, think Petit Bateau and Still Here New York, and Bottega Veneta’s fabulous leather and raffia pouch—the summer-to-fall transition in bag form, and I’m here for it.

This season, as we march into fall, I’m obsessed with all things duster.
Long story short? Sometimes the third piece is the whole plot.
