Summer, But Better
With summer on the horizon, it’s the perfect time to update your daily uniform—jeans, a tee, a blazer, and a structured shoe—for a warm-weather refresh.
I’m swapping my daily denim for cutoffs and kicking off my flats and slipping into flip-flops instead. My favorites? Tkees—always (the Lily in camel suede is chef’s kiss) and raffia, of course. This season, Christopher Esber flipped his ubiquitous jelly flop, turning to raffia instead. Black leather with raffia? Say less—it’s my entire summer personality. The 35 has remained elusive so far, but I’m on the hunt.
Also in the queue—a navy and white striped polo sweater. If that doesn’t whisper “sun-drenched Riviera,” I don’t know what does… Currently loving Arch4’s Victoria stripe polo. Frame also has a good option, as does Frank & Eileen (see Chanel Resort, Distilled).
A crisp white button-down is a warm-weather nonnegotiable—Frank & Eileen remains a wardrobe staple. Jenni Kayne’s boyfriend button-down is always a good option. And the R13 oversized blouse is a summer staple that I can’t live without. I don’t remember the last trip I’ve taken without it—chic with jeans and the perfect coverup, too.
Summer wouldn’t be summer without a great bathing suit, and Hunza G’s black suit does double duty as both a bathing suit and an underpinning. Layer it underneath your favorite blazer—minimal, chic.
Speaking of jackets, your blazer deserves a glow up, too. Trade your winter wools for summer linen à la TWP’s Sawyer jacket. Great with jeans and perfect with cutoffs, too—instant, elegant outfit elevation.
Don’t forget a much-needed straw hat—I wear my Eric Javits on the daily—a shell-inspired necklace, your favorite sunnies, a good SPF (Ultra Violette’s my current fave), and a spritz of perfume—you’re ready to slip into summer, sailboat optional.
