Pants? Well they seem to be optional these days.
And bras? Don’t even get me started… The blouse? She seems almost superfluous.
Sheer is everywhere you look.
It showed up on nearly every Spring/Summer runway. And while sheer fabrics have been a staple for the last few seasons, for 2027, designers are declaring that bare is here to stay.
Organza dresses.
Barely-there skirts.
Whisper-thin silk blouses.
And beyond that?
Bras were everywhere. Some demurely peeking out from underneath dresses. Others? Bold. Designers dispensing with tops altogether. And on catwalks like Erdem and Simone Rocha? Pants? Who are they? A thing of the past, apparently. So 2025…
And when the underwear comes out to play, you better be bringing your down under A game. Lovely if you’re strutting down the catwalk, but what are the mere mortals among us supposed to do?
First things first? Up your underwear game. There’s something about pretty underpinnings that delivers an instant shot of confidence. Wearing a sheer organza column skirt? My favorite, by the way. Layer with intention. A cute boy short preserves your dignity while still leaving a little something to the imagination. Skims, Eterne, Intimissimi, even tried-and-true Commando—there are plenty of options.
Under a sheer blouse? Lace is my go-to. Choose a pretty lace bra in a coordinating color. For the bold among us? Go contrasting—or straight-up bright.
And for those who are not ready to trot off to dinner in your underwear, I hear you. Equally good? A bodysuit under a sheer blouse. A black tight under an organza column. A great wool coat over a barely-there look. A hot short with a coordinating tight.
Because when everything's on display, it's what's underneath that counts.
