One of my favorite trends from the SS27 runways?
Green.
But can you really call green a trend? I say no.
This season, I’m finding myself craving a little more color. Suddenly my base of chocolate brown, ivory, and black is falling a little flat… Green has always been a color I’ve reached for—the sea of black and ivory in my closet dotted with emerald blazers, loden sweaters, olive jackets, Kelly green shoes, and even the occasional chlorophyll-colored bag.
One thing I love about green? It gives you options. It can be the star of the show—take Destree’s emerald green satin set—or, in moss or loden, it can quietly slip into the shade, letting other colors shine. Maybe that’s why green has always been an easy sell for me. Pick the right shade and it practically behaves like a neutral.
The SS27 runways gave us even more inspiration for weaving green into our wardrobes. Ashlyn’s runway was rooted in green—jewel-toned skirts, woven into plaids, paired with ivory, black, and navy.
And at Prada? I loved a bright emerald skirt paired with grey and pale blue. It’s one of those runway combinations that actually translates to real life: a light-wash jean with a grey sweater and a hit of green. Or try a green blazer—or better yet, a duster (extra points if it’s velvet)—with a white tee and soft grey-wash denim. Chef’s kiss.
So this fall? I’m bringing a little bit of the garden into my closet.
