The Butterfly Effect, Issue 21
As we move into spring, I’m rethinking my closet and transitioning out of winter. I’ve spent more time in leggings than I’d like to admit.
This spring, I’m sidelining them—at least during the week—and getting dressed with intention again.
The shift is simple: jeans, a tee, a blazer, and a flat or a kitten heel.
It’s a formula that replaces mindless scrolling with direction. Fewer pieces. Better ones. The rest? Snip, snip.
It’s not just a personal shift. It feels like a fork in the road.
The more options we have, the more appealing it is to have fewer.
Not less style—just less static.
A shift that’s defining my style—and my outlook.
In rotation: rag & bone’s Saige and Dre (my daily go-to), and Nili Lotan’s Shon. As we head into warmer weather, I’m also eyeing Citizens of Humanity’s Ayla crop—frayed hems, a slight curved leg, a bit undone. Levi’s 90s crop are also in the mix.
My rule for denim: mid or low rise. High rise is out—comfort wins. A little slouch, a little ease—the Shon and Dre get it right.
The white tee needs a seasonal refresh. Nothing resets a wardrobe faster. Right now, my favorite is the Re/Done x Hanes tee. In my bag: RLT’s cotton cashmere.
Blazers have always been a constant. The update is in the shape—shorter, slightly cinched, more considered. After spotting Hailey Bieber in a cropped taupe jacket on Who What Wear, I’ve been on the hunt. Max Mara’s Magia in grey is on its way. The black one is calling too.
Footwear is also shifting. Sneakers still have their place, but I’m gravitating toward a slimmer silhouette. Le Monde Béryl’s Luna (already mine in taupe) still leads. Jamie Haller’s Cove Slipper is close behind. Aeyde’s Ellie sits firmly in the mix.
Kitten heels feel like the natural evolution. The Reformation Inez mule is already en route—the moment I saw it, I knew. The flat made sense. The mule made the decision.
I’m still looking for the perfect taupe kitten. Tony Bianco’s Connie in ashen may be it—well-priced, but not available until late June. Good things are worth the wait.
These pieces—jeans, a tee, a blazer, a grounded shoe—are less about building outfits and more about removing friction.
That’s the shift. Not more options. Just better ones.
