Lemon, love, and a limited-edtion crown

Yellow
My love affair with her began years ago. She slipped softly into my story—pale and cable knit. A sweater I threw on with jeans and Keds—yes, Keds. Alas, she was an unrequited love. I was young and careless with her heart. Washed on hot, she shrunk from me—elusive. She broke my heart.

Years later, I discovered her again. This time she was a sheer delight, a sun-kissed gold-drenched blouse that I layered over white tanks, front tucking her into denim shorts, boyfriend jeans. She stole the show. But, sadly, like all good love affairs, she was short-lived and was relegated to the back of the closet, rarely to be seen again.

Her golden hue was set aside, and, in her stead, I turned to her fairer sister, butter. A soft suede blouse that moonlighted as a jacket—to die for.

Ah, butter! She garnered quite a following. The masses flocked to her, as house after house showcased her on their runways.

And then—stopped dead in her tracks.

The queen declared she’d had her day—IYKYK (if you know, you know), and with a wave of her wand, she crowned lemontini heir apparent to summer’s throne.

Bolder than butter, anointed with gold—Hailey ushered in a limited-edition lip peptide, named lemontini, of course. Alongside it: two new blushes, tan line and sun soak, and a lemon-yellow makeup bag and phone case.

And like good subjects, we all lined up. Yellow, once again, continued her reign.

So drench your lips in Rhode’s new peptide. Top your basic white tee with a sun-kissed baseball cap. Slip your feet into a pair of Havaianas. Throw a golden cable knit over your shoulders. And switch out your glazed donut nails for a ray of sunshine.

Embrace her in all of her glory. She’s been ordained.
